Fresh from the Garden

So my Mom and I have a garden. It's at her house and even though I say it's "ours" it's really mine. I've done most of the work. Blayne and I picked out the seeds, were there for the planting, did most of the weeding... Dad was the other major contributor 'cause he got the ground all ready for us. But really, Mom had very little to do with it. However since it is technically at her house, we have to call it her garden. =)

[If you know me at all, you should recognize the EXTREMELY sarcastic tone here. In reality, I've done practically nothing (besides plant). Mom did most of the weeding and even made some jalapeno fire water to keep the bugs away without using pesticides! I did pull a weed or two though. And I have definitely enjoyed the fruits (or veggies - ha!) of "our" labor.]

So anyhoo, here are a few pics of our garden, starting with week one after planting and finishing with some of the delicious foods I've made with our fresh veggies. Hopefully this will inspire you to grow a garden next year. Just don't come to me looking for advice. =)

Garden, Week 1 ~
The whole garden
A little corn plant - aww, it's so cute!!

End of Week 3 ~
The whole garden - it's growing!!
Lima Beans and Okra (I think...)
An zucchini! Or a squash...
The vine-y side of things

Week 8 ~
The "whole" garden, except you can't see past the corn! It's taller than I am now.
Corn silk!
Peas please!Okra maybe? More peas??
Vine-y side
An eggplant
Whoa, those are some big melons!
(Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

I think that's enough for now. I'll put pics of the delicious food I made later tonight or tomorrow, this one is getting a bit long...

So, I was actually feeling myself get a bit annoyed when I started reading about "YOUR" garden and then I got to the disclaimer. LOVE the pictures! You did good. Love you. Ma
